Olvar Wood

Biography Weekend

autobiography is always a transformational or metaphorical act, in which a version of the self, rather than the self per se, is being attempted.

John Pilling

Taught by n a bourke and Inga Simpson, this weekend retreat focuses on developing short biographical pieces. Together we explore the possibilities and limitations of our two primary resources as life writers: our memories and our abilities as researchers, and find ways to build on those resources and skills not just over the weekend, but over the course of our writing lives.

During the weekend Inga and Nike will work with you on two pieces of biographical writing: one you've sent in before the weekend, and another we will help you develop during your stay.

As part of a small group you’ll be guided through a series of readings, discussions and writing exercises designed to help you develop ways to communicate not just the facts, but the all-important sense of being there.

Organic lunches will be provided by Sister Cafe, owned and run by former Jamie Oliver-protege Hayley Robinson.
