Classic and hermit retreats include personal feedback on your writing (5000 words for weekenders, and up to 50,000 words for week-long retreaters) and include accommodation, breakfast, and meetings with the mentor/s.
classic retreat
A classic retreat is an opportunity to come to Olvar and work on a manuscript in progress, with some assistance from the mentors. Your visit can range from two days up to a month and may overlap with other writers' visits to Olvar, or with onsite events such as the Writers' Bookclub. You can choose to stay in your favourite room, depending on when you book/availability, and share use of the facilities and grounds.
hermit retreat
A hermit retreat is the perfect option for those writers who prefer solitude. Hermits get to stay in the Hemingway Room while enjoying full and exclusive use of Olvar Wood's facilities and grounds.
Feedback
A month before the retreat you'll be invited to send in a draft of your work. During your retreat, the mentor will meet with you at Olvar wood to give you detailed feedback on your manuscript, and discuss ways to improve or further develop it. They will also be happy to discuss related issues with you, such as possible publication pathways, and other professional development opportunities.
