Taught by n a bourke and Inga Simpson, this weekend retreat focuses on developing short articles or stories based on your experiences traveling Australia and the world. Together, we'll look at some examples of travel writing, examine the principles of good travel writing and work on developing our work to publishable standard.

You’ll be invited to send in a short piece of travel writing before the retreat, on which you’ll gain one-on-one tutor feedback and peer feedback.

As part of a small group, allowing for individual attention and feedback on your work, you’ll be guided through a series of readings, discussions and writing exercises. You’ll have the opportunity to apply what you’ve learned in your own work and gain focused, individual feedback on your work.

During each day of the retreat, there’ll be a writing workshop, quiet writing time, and opportunities for individual feedback from the tutor. There’ll be plenty of time to write, read, think, learn and grow as a writer in a relaxing, natural environment. Breakfast and lunch are provided each day.

All of your meals are provided over the weekend.

What’s Included?

The travel writing weekend retreat includes all readings, feedback, accommodation and meals.

We can help you arrange transport to and from Olvar Wood, including airport transfers or a lift from the local railway station. There is plenty of parking at Olvar Wood if you choose to drive.

All meals are catered are either onsite or at local restaurants.

COST

This weekend retreat costs $550.00. The cost includes all tuition materials, readings, feedback and meals.

Friends of Olvar receive a 20% discount.

QWC members, card-holding pensioners and fulltime students receive a 10% discount.
