
Nike is the award-winning author of the novels The Bone Flute and The True Green of Hope, as well as the children's picture book What The Sky Knows (illustrated by Stella Danalis). She was the winner of the QLD Premier's Literary Award, two children's book council of Australia awards, and was shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writers Award. She has won several short story awards.
She has published widely - both nationally and internationally - as a short fiction writer, and as a reviewer and non-fiction writer, contributing articles to The Australian, Griffith Review and the Courier Mail. She has acted as a literary judge for the QLD Premier's Literary Awards, and The James Tiptree Award. She has a PhD from Griffith University and a strong background in academic research and writing.
Nike has an extensive background as a writing mentor: working with emerging and established writers who wish to improve their craft. She has worked within universities flor over ten years as a supervisor of postgraduate research degrees in Creative Writing and Cultural Studies (MAs and PhDs) and designing and delivering undergraduate courses in literature, cultural studies, research and creative writing.
Nike has designed and delivered workshops in a range of contexts, from primary schools to high schools and universities, private industry, writer's centres, reading groups, teaching seminars, and writers' festivals. She has provided workshops for writers, readers, thinkers and dreamers: workshops for those wishing to write for a career, those who wish to explore the therapeutic aspects of writing practice, or those who are simply seeking new ways to express themselves.
