Entries are now officially open for the 2013 Big Issue fiction edition – now an annual highlight of the publishing year.

The Big Issue‘s fiction edition has become one of biggest selling short story collections in Australia. All submissions are judged ‘blind’, with no names attached. This year we are inviting all writers – of whatever age, established, emerging, or just keen to have a crack – to send us stories.

This year’s theme is as simple as it is tantalising: Make Me Smile.

Which suggests that this could be a very good year for humour. Though, as always, lateral thinking is encouraged.

Stories must be no longer than 2500 words. To submit, send two printed (not electronic) copies of your entry to:

Make sure your name and details are included on a removable coversheet. Closing date for entries is 31 May 2013.
