I hope you’ll be attending GenreCon this year — it’s going to be an amazing event, with a rich and diverse program of panels, discussions, workshops, debates and other wonders.

I’ll be making two ‘official’ appearances.

The Joy of Writing workshop will take place from 1:30 – 5:30 pm on Friday, 11th October at the Queensland Writers Centre. Had enough of rules and regulations? Want to rediscover the fun of making stuff up? Then this workshop is for you. Come along and join me as I take you through a range of activities designed to reboot your creativity. Bring a single page of your own writing and see it transformed. Be warned: if you think writing can only be done sitting down at a desk, you may be outside your comfort zone. Glitter, glue and scissors provided.

The GenreCon Debate: GENRE JUST WANTS TO HAVE FUN. 4:00 – 5:00pm, Sunday October 13th.

Our thesis: the most important trait of genre fiction is its sense of fun. Two teams of passionate genre writers tackle the core question of what makes genre fiction so appealing to readers, and why we all love writing it.
